About us

Research into the resilience of human individuals and communities has become increasingly differentiated in recent years. While the concept of resilience is being applied in a variety of disciplinary contexts, there is growing political and public interest in the topic. This proliferation of perspectives requires inter-/transdisciplinary approaches.

With its unique integrative approach RECOMENT wants to find ways to collaborate productively across disciplinary boundaries by comparing and integrating their respective methods, methodologies, narratives and theories. Without merging all disciplines into a unified holistic theory, RECOMENT aims to arrive at a realistic assessment of what inter- and transdisciplinary research on resilience can achieve and to elaborate the necessary framework for this venture. In doing so, RECOMENT will contribute to a better raft of measures to build resilience and to inform policy makers. To this end, numerous translations, transformations, and adaptations will be necessary among the life sciences, social sciences, and humanities, as well as the engineering and ecological sciences. Accordingly, the respective scientific discourses of the disciplines involved in RECOMENT are of particular relevance: archaeology, ethnology, geography, medicine, political science, psychology and sociology.

Leibniz ScienceCampi enable Leibniz institutions and universities to engage in thematically focused collaboration in the spirit of regional partnership. The aim is to create networks to further develop the respective research area and strengthen the scientific environment. Further information on Leibniz Science Campuses can be found here.

The Leibniz ScienceCampus RECOMENT is a research network between the Leibniz-Zentrum für Archäologie (LEIZA)the University of TrierJohannes Gutenberg University Mainz, and the Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research.
