Lecture Series Trier/Mainz
As part of the Leibniz ScienceCampus RECOMENT, lecture series will be organized at both university locations in 2026 and 2027 to discuss the concept of resilience from an interdisciplinary perspective.
By deliberately framing the topic in the plural as “resiliencies”, the LSC RECOMENT addresses a highly topical issue that calls for new perspectives considering social, ecological, economic, military, and political transformations. Its aim is to recalibrate the currently prevalent uses of “resilience” in political, social, and academic discourse as a guiding currency of necessary transformation processes. Resilience is understood not as a static property or a state of equilibrium, but as a dynamic process whose complexity requires sustained interdisciplinary reflection.
Lecture series “Resilienz neu denken” – Trier
In the winter semester 2026/27, the first LSC lecture series will take place in Trier under the title “Resilienz neu denken,” addressing this challenge by bringing multiple perspectives and temporal references into dialogue. Focusing on the perspectivity and temporality of resiliencies, the Trier lecture series will explore these dynamics as part of an ongoing process. Contributions from a range of disciplines will invite participants to engage with resiliencies as phenomena of continuous change in a variety of formats. The opening and closing sessions of the lecture series will be held at a public venue in the city of Trier, while the remaining events will take place at Trier University.
Lecture series “Resilienzen verstehen” – Mainz
In the winter semester 2027/28, the Mainz lecture series “Resilienzen verstehen” will explore how narratives and methods from different disciplines can be connected and further developed to investigate resilience, in its multidimensionality, as a dynamic process. The lectures will present examples of interdisciplinary approaches and discuss the associated challenges as well as the perspectives they generate. In this way, the lecture series seeks to create a space for inter- and transdisciplinary exchange, and to encourage reflection on integrative approaches to the increasingly complex perspectives on resilience emerging in the context of contemporary societal transformations. The lectures will take place at the Leibniz-Zentrum für Archäologie (LEIZA) in Mainz.
The two lecture series address students, researchers, and an interested public, inviting open reflection and discussion on resiliencies beyond simplistic attributions.
More information on the Trier lecture series will be provided here shortly.
